Great Hammerheads are a crucial part of the economy for Bimini, drawing in guests for both research and tourism.
DID YOU KNOW:
Their hammer-shaped head is called a cephalofoil, making them “metal detectors of life? They can pick up the faint electrical impulses of stingrays! They are even gifted with 360 degree vision!
Some large hammerheads’ dorsal fins may exceed the average height of a player on an NBA roster….Insane!
