Welcome back to another edition of Shark Bytes, presented by Bimini Shark Lab!
Today, we get to learn a little bit about Nurse Sharks from Alex and Zainab!
“Along with some sharks that need to swim to breathe, nurse sharks use buccal pumping, using their cheek muscles to suck in water and keep breathing, even when they are not moving. You’ll often find them hiding under ledges or in caves, resting and cuddling during the day, and hunting at night.
Nurse sharks are a vital part of the reef ecosystem, keeping it balanced and healthy!”
Tune in next week for another episode!
